If you’ve visited our Carlisle showroom recently, you’ll have seen the beautiful bathroom in the window of the extension area. It’s taken a while to get this just as we wanted it but, with a little help from Penrith interior designer, Maureen Whitemore of Whitemore & Thwaytes, we think we now have something to show off.

The bath is a Victoria and Albert freestanding model painted black outside and with Hansgrohe Axor taps. The flooring is a tumbled marble and the wash basin is also Victoria and Albert set on to a carrara marble surface and a bespoke Town and Country interiors vanity.

Those elements have been in place for a while but it has taken a little Maureen magic to create the full impact.

The wallpaper, a gorgeous floral affair, is Nakai by Boussac while the curtain fabric, drawing out the beautiful rich purple colour, is an artificial silk called Astor by James Hare. And the finishing touch is a lead crystal tieback by Zoffany.

The other big difference is the replacement of the sample sheets and green cupboard along the wall with an elegant grey wardrobe with mirrored doors and painted in Fig Grey to match the washbasin stand.

Roy and Bill designed the bathroom overall and we are pleased with the final effect: “Many of our clients for bedroom and bathroom designs are now looking for combinations of function with a touch of luxury and we have tried to create that with this showroom example. I could imagine it as a wonderful en suite bathroom that echoes the same rich shades and furniture design from the bedroom.”
